Creating a MicroLearning Library
The Challenge
Scoot Education partners with K–12 schools to provide substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff. They focus on thoughtfully matching educators to school needs and supporting them with training and ongoing professional development.
The organization needed scalable, accessible training resources that could be completed quickly and applied immediately in real classroom settings.
My Approach
I partnered with Scoot Education over a period of 3+ months to create bite-sized asynchronous microlearning experiences on various classroom topics, using Articulate Storyline, Rise, and Vyond. Each microlearning included downloadable job aids created in Canva.
Meeting bi-weekly with the Global Head of Learning and Development, I led the end-to-end eLearning development for all modules. Additionally, for more than a quarter of the content, I served as both the Subject Matter Expert and Instructional Designer, thanks to my own experience as a classroom teacher.
The Result
By the end of my time with Scoot, I designed 11 unique, interactive, and scenario-based microlearnings to be housed in a searchable online resource library for substitute teachers and paraprofessionals. Each was designed with accessibility, clarity, and real-world classroom application in mind.
I completed the project 21% ahead of schedule, saving 16 days on a 76 day timeline.

The Impact
Within 10 days of the library launch, 200 educators had already engaged with the trainings.
Overtime, it is expected that the trainings will reach an audience of 7000+ educators globally, reducing their time needed to ramp dramatically.
Read what Dr. Naama Wrightman, Scoot Education’s Global Head of Learning and Development, had to say about our work together:
“Maura's creativity, attention to detail, and extensive experience as an educator and instructional designer shine through in all of the work she produces. In our work together on a microlearning series, she created clear and engaging asynchronous modules that prompt participants to learn new skills and reflect on their own practice. She is skilled at making complex information easy to understand and sticky for learners. Working with Maura is an outstanding experience.”
